This CD, Anthology, has music from all of Utopia's albums. Some of it is very good, such as the tune "Set me free" from Adventures in Utopia. The only great song is "Mountaintop and Sunrise/Communion with the Sun", off the album RA. Here is where your heart sort of breaks. When Utopia decided to be musical and great it was on the cutting edge /5(13).

For much of the double-album Todd, Todd Rundgren was exploring weird instrumental avenues, creating a warped, synth-fueled variation of prog rock. This wasn't the culmination of the weirdness A Wizard, A True Star initiated -- it was merely the beginning. Not long after completing Todd, Rundgren assembled Utopia, a prog rock group with no less than three synth players, .

Jan 31,  · Not sure I'll get the lot but I'm interesting in getting a few more older CD releases (Faithful/Initiation Castle, Hermit Disky, both Castle Anthologies, maybe a couple more Castle 99s to check). I've EACd all my Todd/Utopia CDs so if anyone is interested in me posting the rest (the ones I didn't post before, s onwards) I'm happy to do so.

Even hardcore Todd Rundgren fans disagree on the merits of Utopia, his late-'70s/early-'80s band which fell halfway between vanity project and independent unelnisandownveratitiwafffedo.coinfo of the problem is that the band were musically schizophrenic, embodying the extremes of both prog rock (in their earliest incarnation) and arena rock (in their latter-day phase).8/

Mar 28,  · And that long-held thesis that ‘if you’re a Utopia fan, you’re also a Todd Rundgren fan’ still holds true. Utopia started out as Rundgren’s own private King Crimson and the show starts out that way, too, diving right into extended, largely instrumental pieces (“Utopia Theme,” “The Ikon,” “Another Life”) that in retrospect.
