   Feeling restless with the lack of gigs with Terry & The Pirates, John Cipollina decided to start his dream band Raven, taking with him members of "the Pirates", Quicksilver and Copperhead for this new project. Raven was John's concept of a "Big Band" - 2 guitarists, 2 .

   Raven was one of those bands that had a killer combination of musicians contributing to it's sound. John Cipollina, my good friend and Qicksilver Messenger Service guitarist, along with Greg Douglass and Nicky Hopkins together made Raven one of the more interesting of the bands John formed over his all-too-short time on this earth.4/5(4).

   San Francisco Bay Area acid rock guitarist John Cipollina () was a member of many rock groups in the '60s, '70s, and '80s, most notable among them Quicksilver Messenger Service. Cipollina never really had a solo career, but his discography does list one album under his own name, sort of, a record usually referred to as John Cipollina Raven. It isn't actually a solo disc, either, however.

   Originally released in , 'Raven' looks to be the only record that the late John Cipollina (Quicksilver Messenger Service) ever released. Not as good with (at least, most) of his material he'd done with QMS, but I have to say that 'Raven' is okay - not bad.4/4(7).
